Savannah Travel Guide

Updated: May 14

I decided to take a pre-summer trip to Savannah, Georgia since I haven't been in ages. Savannah is a city where springtime paints the streets with bursts of color, and history whispers through the Spanish moss-draped oaks. In this travel guide, I invite you to stroll along cobblestone streets, explore enchanting squares, and savor the Southern charm that makes Savannah an unforgettable destination. From hidden gardens to historic landmarks, join us as we embark on a journey through one of the South's most captivating cities, where the spirit of spring is alive and blooming. Let's dive into the best sights, eats, and experiences that Savannah has to offer this season.

Travel

I live in Houston, and Savannah is a 14-hour drive from my location. Since my family enjoys road trips, I chose to drive the full distance over two days. We made a pit stop in Alabama both on our way there and back. While many opt for flying, I wanted to share that the drive is manageable, providing flexibility with a car. Alternatively, if you prefer flying, you can land at Savannah/Hilton Head Airport and take an Uber to your hotel.

Where to Stay

I was thrilled to experience a stay at the Brice Hotel, one of the Kimpton properties. Situated in Savannah's historic district, this boutique hotel offers a unique charm. If you choose to fly to Savannah, you won't need to rent a car as The Brice Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Downtown Savannah, The Riverwalk, and other attractions. Enjoy numerous amenities at The Brice Hotel including spacious rooms, a cabana-style pool, and an onsite restaurant, Pacci.

The Brice Hotel truly exceeded our expectations in terms of hospitality and comfort. The attention to detail provided by the team made us feel truly valued and cared for throughout our stay. The king room we stayed in was a delightful blend of spaciousness and coziness, giving us the perfect retreat to relax and recharge.

What truly set the Brice Hotel apart was the wide array of activities it offered right on-site. From basking in the sun by the inviting pool with impeccable bar service to finding tranquility in the charming courtyard, there was always a perfect spot to enjoy some leisure time. And let's not forget the culinary delights awaiting us at Pacci for both lunch and dinner – each meal was a culinary journey that left our taste buds thoroughly satisfied.

After a day of exploring the sights and sounds of the city, returning to the welcoming embrace of the Brice Hotel felt like coming home. It was a sanctuary where we could unwind, savor the moment, and create lasting memories. Our stay at the Brice Hotel was truly a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, making it an experience we will cherish for years to come.

Exploring Savannah

Savannah offers a plethora of enjoyable activities. Specifically, the North Historic District, particularly W Broughton Street, is brimming with diverse attractions. This area is perfect for shopping, with a mix of local stores and well-known brands like H&M, Free People, and Anthropologie. One standout spot I was thrilled to visit in the North Historic District is The Mess Hall, a unique trucker hat bar featured on TikTok. I have a newfound love for trucker hats, especially during the summer, so I couldn't wait to stop by. The experience definitely lived up to its reputation, and it was so cute! Another must-visit is Dress Up boutique, which offers a wide selection of stylish clothing. I picked up a pair of sandals there that I'm eager to wear. I highly recommend dropping by both of these shops when you're in the area.

Other Thing to Check Out

Where to Eat

During our time in Savannah, we indulged in delicious food at various eateries. Each place we dined at was exceptional, and we also discovered some fantastic coffee shops. Among them, Franklin’s stood out as my favorite. This charming spot served an incredible iced vanilla latte and delightful breakfast options. One memorable dish we shared was the turkey avocado sandwich, which was simply delicious. Another highlight was dining at Pacci in the Brice Hotel (no sponsorship involved). The Italian cuisine was outstanding, especially the pasta dishes. Our meal began with focaccia paired with peach compote and honey butter – the butter was exceptionally light and fluffy. The chicken parmesan I ordered was outstanding! The portions were generous, making it easy to share if you're not very hungry. Overall, everything at Pacci was simply delightful!

Other Resturants, Coffee Shops, & Bars

Our journey to Savannah was truly incredible, and I'm already looking forward to returning. For the best experience, I recommend visiting in early spring or fall as May was a bit too warm for exploring everywhere on foot. If you desire to immerse yourself in old Southern charm, Savannah is the perfect destination for you!
